Indonesia Accepts Peacekeepers.

Following within hours of yesterdays press release by DOM, President Habibie announced on behalf of the Indonesian Government that it would invite peace keepers into East Timor.

DOM called on the Indonesian military and their paramilitary guerillas to "immediately cease and desist in violence and terror ; to forthwith retreat from East Timor ; and to allow the un-hindered passage and return of the displaced East Timorese to remnants of their homes and families."

The Government of the Dominion of Melchizedek welcomes this first step towards peace in East Timor and applauds the courage exercised by the Government of Indonesia.

The United Nations Secretary-General has also welcomed the announcement of  Indonesia to accept the offer of the international community to assist it in restoring peace and security in East Timor.

As a result of these developments, the freedom loving people of East Timor can now grasp a glimmer of hope to rebuild their shattered lives. The rebuilding of East Timor is now the next major challenge.

The DOM has identified a number of urgent humanitarian needs of the people of East Timor. The first priority being urgently needed fresh water, food, medical supplies, proper sanitation and a loving embrace.
