KING JAMES VERSION
Matthew 28
Matthew 28
1 Mary Magdalene with Mary, mother of James, came at the end of the Sabbath, as it began to dawn on the first day of the week, to see the tomb of Jesus.
1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first [day] of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
2 But, behold, a great earthquake took place, for the counteracting power of God harmoniously descended, rolling back the stony obstruction from the portal of his interment, and that power rested upon the stone obstruction.
2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
3 The features of God's power appeared extraordinarily effulgent, being arrayed in shining purity;
3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
4 So, out of fear the guards trembled, and their mortal thinking was apparent.
4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead [men].
5 The thoughts of God revealed to the women, "Do not fear, for the almighty I-am knows that you seek Jesus, whose fleshly belief was crucified.
5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
6 "He is not interred, for he is risen, just as he foretold. Come, see the place where your Master was laid.
6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
7 "Go quickly to tell his disciples that he is risen above death; behold, he precedes you into Galilee; there you can see him; lo, even the almighty I-am has revealed it to you."
7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
8 Then they quickly left the sepulcher in reverence and great joy, and ran to bring the facts to his disciples.
8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, they encountered Jesus who greeted them, saying, "All hail." And when they approached, they embraced Truth's footing, kissing and worshipping him.
9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
10 At which Jesus told them, "Do not be afraid; tell my brethren to go into Galilee, and they will see me there."
10 Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.
11 As they were going, behold, some of the guards came into the city to tell the Sadducees all the things that had happened.
11 Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.
12 When the ecclesiastical authorities met with the leaders of the people, they reached an agreement to give a large sum of money to their officers,
12 And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,
13 And instructed them, "Say, 'His disciples came by night, and removed him while we were asleep,'
13 Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him [away] while we slept.
14 "If this should come to the procurator's attention, we will persuade him to agree with us and to protect you."
14 And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.
15 So they took the money, doing as they were instructed, and belief in this deception persists among the Jews until now.
15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.
16 The eleven disciples continued on their way into Galilee, to the mountain where an appointment had been made with Jesus.
16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
17 Now when they saw him, they worshipped the Christ, yet some doubted.
17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.
18 Jesus came closer, and speaking to them he said, "All power over the forms of infinite Mind is given to me by harmonious Principle.
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 "Go therefore, teaching all nations, purifying them by the nature of infinite Mind, and of its divine idea, and of Mind's communion with its idea;
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 "Teaching them to follow all the commandments which I have given you; and, lo, the infinite I-am is with you always, even unto the end of worldly beliefs."
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.
