THE MELCHIZEDEK BIBLE
KING JAMES VERSION
Matthew 26
Matthew 26
1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all his teachings, he told the disciples^,
1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples,
2 "As you know, the feast of the Passover will take place in two days, and the Son of man will be betrayed to be crucified."
2 Ye know that after two days is [the feast of] the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.
3 Then the chief priests, the government lawyers, and the rulers of the people assembled together at the palace of the highest ecclesiastical authority, who was called Caiaphas,
3 Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,
4 To consult about taking Jesus by subtlety, and kill him.
4 And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill [him].
5 But they concluded, "Not on the feast day, lest there may be a tumult among the people."
5 But they said, Not on the feast [day], lest there be an uproar among the people.
6 While Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon, the leper whom he had healed^,
6 Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,
7 A woman approached him with an alabaster box of very precious ointment, with which she anointed his head as he reclined at the table.
7 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat [at meat].
8 But when the disciples saw it, they became indignant, asking, "What is the purpose of this waste?
8 But when his disciples saw [it], they had indignation, saying, To what purpose [is] this waste?
9 "For this ointment might have been sold for a considerable sum and the money given to the poor."
9 For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.
10 When Jesus became aware of their attitude, he told them, "Why do you disturb this woman? She has directed a good work toward me.
10 When Jesus understood [it], he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.
11 "For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have your Teacher with you.
11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.
12 "For when she anointed my body with this ointment, she did that for its burial.
12 For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did [it] for my burial.
13 "Verily I tell you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial of her."
13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, [there] shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.
14 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the leaders of scholastic theology^,
14 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests,
15 Inquiring of them, "Since I can deliver him to you, what will you give me?" So they agreed to give him thirty silver coins.
15 And said [unto them], What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.
16 Thereafter he sought an opportunity to betray Jesus.
16 And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.
17 Now on the first day of the feast of unleavened bread, the disciples came to Jesus, asking him, "Where do you wish to eat the Passover so that we can prepare it for you^?"
17 Now the first [day] of the [feast of] unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?
18 Replying, he said, "Go into the city to a certain man, and advise him that his Teacher has said, 'My time is at hand; I will observe the Passover at your home with my disciples.'"
18 And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.
19 Then the disciples did as Jesus had directed them, and they prepared the Passover meal for him.
19 And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.
20 Now when it was evening, he reclined at the table with the twelve disciples.
20 Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.
21 And as they ate, he revealed to them, "Verily I tell you that one of you will initiate my betrayal."
21 And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.
22 They became deeply sorrowful, and each of them began to ask him, "Lord, is it I?"
22 And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?
23 Answering them, he said, "He that drops from his power with me into a false knowledge of man's origin, the same will betray me.
23 And he answered and said, He that dippeth [his] hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.
24 "The Son of man must do just as it has been prophesied, but woe to that one who betrays the origin of the Son of man! It would have been better for that one if the same had never esteemed any human origin."
24 The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.
25 Then Judas, who would betray him, asked, "Master, is it I?" He replied to him, "You yourself have said it."
25 Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.
26 As they were eating, Jesus took bread and blessed it, and gave it to the disciples, saying, "Partake; this represents the 'great truth of spiritual Being.^'" Before the second cup was blessed and drunk, they had sung these Psalms:
Praise the Lord, praise, O you servants of the Lord, praise the nature of the Lord.
The nature of the Lord is blessed eternally.
From the faintest gleam of enlightenment to the complete idea, the Lord's nature is to be praised.
The Lord is sovereign above all else, with glory above the divine noumenon.
Who is like the Lord our God, who dwells on beyond the touch of mortals.
Whoever humbles oneself to behold the things that are of the 'atmosphere of Soul^."
The same lifts the poor up out of material sense, and the needy out of waste.
And place them with princes, even the princes of their people.
And provides the homeless mother with a house, and enables her to be a joyous mother of her children.
26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed [it], and brake [it], and gave [it] to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
When Israel went out of Egyptian darkness, the impulse of inspiration^ from a mysterious people,
Understanding^ was their sanctuary, and Science^ their dominion.
Finite concepts^ saw it, and fled; even the Jordan was driven back.
The impediments skipped like rams, and the subtleties like lambs.
What ailed you, O finite concepts^, that you fled? The Jordan, that you were driven back?
The impediments, that skipped like rams, and the subtleties, like lambs?
Tremble O earth, at the omnipresence of the Lord, at the omnipresence of the God of Jacob;
Which coaxed the rock into a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters.
27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and passing it to them, he said, "Imbibe all of it;
27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave [it] to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
28 "For this represents the persecutions directed against 'a new and higher understanding of God^,' which are endured for the benefit of many for the remission of sins.
28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
29 "But I say to you, I will not need to endure this suffering beyond that irradiant day at which I passover to my Father's crown, when, with you, I imbibe its understanding anew."
29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.
30 Now when they finished the meal they sang these Psalms, before going out to the mount of Olives:
Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto your nature give glory, for your love and your truth.
Why should the pagan say, "Now where is their God?"
But our God is all-harmonious, who has done the divine will.
Their idols are silver and gold, the product of men's hands.
They have mouths, but they do not speak, eyes have they, but they discern^ not,
They have ears, but they perceive^ not, noses have they, but they smell not,
They have hands, but force they have not, feet have they, but they cannot move, neither can they perform ventriloquism.
They that make them are limited by belief in them; so is everyone that trusts in them.
O Israel, trust only in the Lord - your help and your shield.
O house of Aaron, trust only in the Lord - your help and your shield.
You who worship the Lord, trust in the Lord - your help and your shield.
The Lord has been mindful of us, blessing us, blessing the house of Israel and the house of Aaron.
Those that worship the Lord will be blessed, from the least to the greatest.
The Lord will give you abundance, both you and your children.
You are blessed by the Lord who includes both cause and effect.
30 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.
The reign of government^, even holy bliss, is the Lord's, but its practice is given to the children of men.
Mortals do not praise the Lord, neither any that go down into magnetism.
But we must bless the Lord from this point of understanding for evermore. Praise the Lord.
I love the Lord for he hears my voice and my earnest prayer.
Because he has inclined his ear to me, I will call upon him all my life.
The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of malice took hold of me; I only found trouble and sorrow.
Then I called upon the nature of the Lord; O Lord, I beseech you, deliver me by the spiritual senses.
Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.
The Lord preserves the simple; I became meek, and he helped me.
Remain at rest, O my life, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with me.
For you have delivered my life from death, my eyes from tears and my feet from stumbling.
My steps will be directed by the Lord in the land of the living.
I understood, therefore I said, "I was greatly afflicted";
I said in dismay, "All mortals are liars."
How will I repay the Lord for all the goodness given me?
I will take the way of salvation calling upon the Lord.
I will fulfill my vows before God now in the presence of all his people.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the preservation of his saints.
O Lord, truly I am your servant; I am your servant, your faithful child; you have loosed my bonds.
Thankfully I will offer to you self-sacrifice, and will call upon your nature.
I will fulfill my vows to the Lord now in the presence of all his people,
In the courts of the Lord's domain, in the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise the Lord.
O Praise the Lord, all nations; praise be from all the people.
For great is the Lord's love toward us, and the truth of the Lord is everlasting. Praise the Lord.
O give thanks, for the Lord's goodness and love are everlasting.
Let Israel now acclaim that God's love is forever.
Let the house of Aaron now say, that God's love is forever.
Now let them who worship the Lord, whose love is forever, acclaim it.
In distress I prayed to the Lord; the Lord answered me, and set me with the All-in-all.
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear; how can anyone harm me?
The Lord is with me and is my support; therefore I will rejoice in the presence of those that hate me.
It is better to trust the Lord than to put confidence in the flesh.
It is better to trust the Lord than the people's princes and leaders.
All nations compassed me about, but the nature of the almighty I-am reverses them.
They compassed me about, but the nature of the almighty I-am reverses them.
They compassed me about with ubiquity; they are reversed by their persecutions, yet by the nature of the almighty I-am they are reversed.
They have greatly afflicted me so I might stumble, but the Lord helped me.
The Lord is my strength and joy, and has become my salvation.
The voice of rejoicing and salvation is the consciousness of the righteous; the power of the Lord does valiantly.
The power of the Lord is exalted; the power of the Lord is valiant.
I will not die but live, manifesting the works of the Lord.
The Lord has corrected me severely, but not given me over to death.
Open to me are the gates of righteousness; as I enter them, I will praise the Lord;
It is the way of the Lord, into which the righteous must enter.
I will praise you, for in answering me, you became my salvation
The sufferings which the teachers rejected have become of primary importance.
This is the Lord's way; it is marvelous in our sight.
This enlightenment is revealed by God; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
O Lord, save now, I pray; I pray, give us prosperity now.
Blessed is the one who comes in the nature of the Lord; we have blessed them with divine Mind.
God is the Lord, who showed us enlightenment; bind the sacrifice with Science, until Truth appears.
You are my God, I will praise and exalt you.
O, be grateful to the Lord, for goodness and for everlasting Love.
31 Then Jesus told them, "Tonight all of you will be offended because of me, for it is written, 'Smite the Leader so that his followers will be scattered abroad^.'
31 Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
32 "But after I have been resurrected, I will go before you into Galilee."
32 But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.
33 Contradicting him, Peter said, "Though all men will be offended because of you, yet I will never be offended."
33 Peter answered and said unto him, Though all [men] shall be offended because of thee, [yet] will I never be offended.
34 Jesus said to him, "Verily I say to you, that this very night, before the dawn of day, you will disown me three times."
34 Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
35 Peter replied to him, "Though I will die with you, yet I will not disown you." All the disciples joined in making the same assertion.
35 Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.
36 Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, "Remain here while I go over there to pray^."
36 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.
37 As he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, his sadness became extremely heavy.
37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.
38 Then he said to them, "My senses are filled with grief, even to the point of death; stay here, and watch with me."
38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
39 Now he went a little further, and in absolute reverence, he prayed, "O my Father, if it be possible, let this suffering pass from me; yet not according to my will, but according to your will let it be done."
39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou [wilt].
40 Upon returning to the disciples, and finding them asleep, he asked Peter, "What, could you not watch with me at least one hour?
40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
41 "Watch and pray; do not be tempted into separation from me; indeed, the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."
41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed [is] willing, but the flesh [is] weak.
42 He went away the second time, and prayed, "O my Father, if this suffering may not pass away from me, except I imbibe it, let your will be done."
42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.
43 When he returned, he found them sleeping again, as their eyes were heavy.
43 And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.
44 But he left them sleeping and went away again, praying for the third time the same prayer.
44 And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.
45 Then he came to his disciples, and said to them, "Dream on now, and take your carnal rest; behold, the hour is at hand, the life of man is betrayed into the control of sinners.
45 Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take [your] rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
46 "Now rise, let us meet the betrayer who is approaching."
46 Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.
47 And while he was still speaking, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude, carrying swords and clubs, came from the ecclesiastical authorities and leaders of the people^.
47 And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
48 Now he who betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, "Whomsoever I will kiss, that one is Jesus; arrest him."
48 Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.
49 He went directly to Jesus, saying, "Hail, Messiah"; and kissed him.
49 And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.
50 Jesus asked him, "Friend, why have you come?" Thereupon the Temple guard seized Jesus and arrested him.
50 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.
51 Then, one of them which were with Jesus reached for his sword, drawing it out, and struck a servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.
51 And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out [his] hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear.
52 But Jesus commanded him, saying, "Put away your animal courage and resentment, with your sword back in its place; for all those that use the sword will perish by revenge.
52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
53 "Do you think that I cannot pray to my Father, and he will presently give me more than the counteracting force of all Israel?
53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?
54 "But then how would the Scriptures be fulfilled, which prophesy that this must be?"
54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?
55 In the same hour Jesus spoke to the multitudes, "Have you come out with swords and clubs to capture me like a thief? I was with you every day, teaching in the temple, and you did not arrest me.
55 In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.
56 "But so that the prophesies of Scriptures might be fulfilled, all this must be done." Thereafter, all the disciples deserted him and fled.
56 But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.
57 And they that had arrested Jesus led him away to Caiaphas, the highest ecclesiastical authority, where the people's leaders were assembled with their lawyers^.
57 And they that had laid hold on Jesus led [him] away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.
58 But Peter followed him at a distance to Caiaphas' palace, and went in, sitting with the officers to see the conclusion of the matter.
58 But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.
59 Now the chief ecclesiastical authority, the people's leaders, and all the lawyers, sought false witnesses against Jesus to put him to death;
59 Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;
60 But they found none; though many false witnesses came forward, still they found none. Two false witnesses finally came forward,
60 But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, [yet] found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,
61 To declare, "This fellow said, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.'"
61 And said, This [fellow] said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.
62 Thereupon the high priest arose, and asked him, "Won't you answer this testimony which these witnesses have brought against you?"
62 And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what [is it which] these witness against thee?
63 But Jesus stood mute. Persisting, the high priest declared to him, "I adjure you by the living God that you tell us whether you are the Messiah, the Son of God."
63 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.
64 Answering him, Jesus said, "You have said it; nevertheless, I reveal to you that hereafter you will discern the Son of man as sovereign, and although beclouded to your senses, coming as divine harmony."
64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
65 Then the high priest rent his clothes, stating, "He has spoken blasphemy; what further need do we have of witnesses? Look, now you have heard his blasphemy for yourselves.
65 Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.
66 "What is your verdict?" Answering him, they said, "He should be put to death."
66 What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.
67 Then the officers spat in his face, and buffeted him with their fists, and others slapped him with the palms of their hands.
67 Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote [him] with the palms of their hands,
68 Saying, "Prophesy for us, O Messiah, who is it that struck you?"
68 Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?
69 Now Peter was sitting out in the courtyard of the palace when a damsel came to him, stating, "You also were with Jesus of Galilee^!"
69 Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.
70 But before them all, he denied it, declaring, "I do not know what it is that you are talking about."
70 But he denied before [them] all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.
71 And when he went out to the porch, another servant girl saw him, and said to those who were present, "This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth."
71 And when he was gone out into the porch, another [maid] saw him, and said unto them that were there, This [fellow] was also with Jesus of Nazareth.
72 Again he denied it with an oath, declaring, "I do not know the man."
72 And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.
73 After a while those who were standing there with Peter came to him, and said, "Surely you are one of them, for your speech gives you away."
73 And after a while came unto [him] they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art [one] of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.
74 Then he began to swear by oath, declaring, "I do not know the man." Thereupon, immediately the cock was heard at the dawn of day.
74 Then began he to curse and to swear, [saying], I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.
75 Now Peter then remembered the words of Jesus, who said to him, "Before the dawn of day, you will deny me three times." At that he went out and wept bitterly.
75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.
