THE MELCHIZEDEK BIBLE KING JAMES VERSION
Matthew 22 Matthew 22
Continuing to speak to them in parables, Jesus said, 1 And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,
"The reign of righteousness is like a certain King (God), who made for his son a marriage feast (the final expulsion of 'the physical plagues imposed by material sense^'), 2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,
"And sent his servants (the prophets) out to summon those (his chosen ones) who were invited to the wedding (the union of divine offspring to God by infinite Love), but they would not come. 3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.
"Again, he sent out other servants (the Apostles), saying, 'Tell those who are invited (the chosen people): Look, I have prepared a feast (final victory over physical plagues); the oxen and fattened cattle (animality) are slaughtered, and everything is ready; attend the marriage; 4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and [my] fatlings [are] killed, and all things [are] ready: come unto the marriage.
"But they (the chosen) disregarded it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise, 5 But they made light of [it], and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:
"And the rest treated his servants (Apostles) horribly, until they murdered them. 6 And the remnant took his servants, and entreated [them] spitefully, and slew [them].
"When the King (God) came to deal with these outrageous events, he sent armies (sent a law of annihilation to anything unlike perfection), which destroyed (negated) those murderers, and burned up (purified) their city (that on which thought dwells). 7 But when the king heard [thereof], he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.
"Then he said to his servants (Apostles), 'The wedding (the union of divine Love 'to its own spiritual idea^') is ready, but those who have been chosen (invited) were not worthy.' 8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.
"Therefore, go out to the highways (where the Gentiles - heathens - can be found), and invite as many as you encounter to the marriage (to the union of divine Love 'to its own spiritual idea^'). 9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.
"So those servants (Apostles) went out to the highways (where the Gentiles are encountered), and gathered together all that they found, without reference to their character, so that the wedding was furnished with guests (monitors). 10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.
"When the King (God) came in to see the guests (monitors), he saw there a man who was not wearing a wedding garment (who was unclean, i.e., unholy). 11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
"And he asked him, 'Friend, how is it that you came in here (unholy) without wearing a wedding garment?' Thereupon the guest became speechless (lacked the language of Spirit). 12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
"Then the King (God) ordered his servants (Apostles), 'Bind him hand and foot (he is imprisoned by his own delusions), take him away and throw him into outer darkness (return him to his imaginary world); there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth (since suffering leads to reformation, one needs 'to unself mortality and to destroy its erroneous claims^' until one's 'account is balanced^' with God).' 13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast [him] into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
"For many are called, but few reach enough understanding to deserve being chosen." 14 For many are called, but few [are] chosen.
Then the Pharisees analyzed how they might entrap him by his own words. 15 Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in [his] talk.
So they sent their disciples along with the Herodians to entrap him by saying, "Teacher, we realize that you are upright and teach the way of God in truth, neither do you care about any of men's doctrines. 16 And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any [man]: for thou regardest not the person of men.
"Tell us therefore, what do you think about paying taxes to Caesar? Is it a violation of the law of God or not?" 17 Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?
But Jesus perceived their evil intent, so he asked, "Why do you want to tempt me, you hypocrites? 18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, [ye] hypocrites?
"Show me the money which pays the tax." Then they brought it to him. 19 Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.
And he asked them, "Whose image and inscription is this?" 20 And he saith unto them, Whose [is] this image and superscription?
They replied, "Caesar's." Then he told them, "Therefore render to Caesar the things which belong to Caesar, and to God the things that are God's." 21 They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.
When they had heard these words, they were astonished, yet, persisting in their doctrine, they left him. 22 When they had heard [these words], they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.
That same day the Sadducees, who teach that there is no resurrection, came to ask him, 23 The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,
Saying, "Teacher, Moses said, 'If a man should die without children, his brother might marry his wife, and bring up children for him. 24 Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
"Now there were with us seven brothers, and the first brother married, but died before having children, and his wife was left to the next brother. 25 Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:
"Likewise the next brother also died without children, and thereafter the third, up to the seventh. 26 Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.
"And finally the woman also died. 27 And last of all the woman died also.
"Since therefore they all had married her, of the seven brothers, whose wife will she be in the resurrection?" 28 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.
Answering them, Jesus said, "Not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God, you have made an error. 29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
"For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but they coincide with God's harmonious thoughts, which counteract finite beliefs. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
"But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have you not read that which was revealed to you by God, which is, 31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,
"'The almighty I-am is the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob?' The eternal I-am is not the Ego of the dead, but of the living." 32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
When hearing this teaching, the multitude was astonished by his doctrine. 33 And when the multitude heard [this], they were astonished at his doctrine.
Upon learning that Jesus had put the Sadducees to silence, the Pharisees assembled together. 34 But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.
Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, also attempting to entrap him, saying, 35 Then one of them, [which was] a lawyer, asked [him a question], tempting him, and saying,
"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?" 36 Master, which [is] the great commandment in the law?
Jesus answered him, "You must love the Lord your God with your complete devotion, all your being and your entire thinking. 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
"This is the first and all-inclusive commandment. 38 This is the first and great commandment.
"The second is like it: You must love your fellow being as though the same is your very self. 39 And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
"The coherence of all the law and the prophets is these two commandments." 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
While the Pharisees were joined together, Jesus asked them, 41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,
Saying, "What do you think of the Messiah? Whose son is he?" They, answering him, said, "The Son of David." 42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, [The Son] of David.
Then he asked them, "How then does David in spirit call him Master, saying, 43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,
"'The oracle of God said to my Master: Sit at my right hand, till I make your enemies bless you?' 44 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?
"If David then calls him Master, how can he be his son?" 45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?
Thereafter no one could find even a word against him, neither did anyone, from then on, dare to ask him any more questions. 46 And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any [man] from that day forth ask him any more [questions].
