THE MELCHIZEDEK BIBLE KING JAMES VERSION
Matthew 16 Matthew 16
The Pharisees with the Sadducees came to test him by asking for a sign in the sky according to their superstitious desires^. 1 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.
He answered them by saying, "When it is evening, you think it will be fair weather because of the color of the sky^. 2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, [It will be] fair weather: for the sky is red.
"And in the morning, it will be foul weather today due to the overcast sky and its color. O you hypocrites, you can discern the features of the sky, but can you not discern the signs of the times^? 3 And in the morning, [It will be] foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O [ye] hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not [discern] the signs of the times?
"A wicked and impure generation seeks a sign, but no sign will be given to it, except for the sign of healing salvation according to the lesson of Jonah^." 4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.
When his disciples had returned to the finite idea, they found that they had not provided for bread^. 5 And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
At the same time Jesus advised them to be cautious of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees^. 6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
Thereupon they deduced among themselves that he said it because they had forgotten to bring bread^. 7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, [It is] because we have taken no bread.
When Jesus perceived this, he told them, "O you of such little faith, why do you reason among yourselves about the bread which you left behind^? 8 [Which] when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
"Do you still not understand, neither do you remember the five loaves that fed the five thousand, and how many baskets full you had left over^? 9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
"Neither the seven loaves which fed the four thousand, and how many baskets you had left over^? 10 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
"How is it that you fail to understand that I did not speak to you about lack of bread, but that you must beware of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees^?" 11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake [it] not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
Then they understood that he was not teaching about the use of leaven in their bread, but of the teachings of the Pharisees and the Sadducees^. 12 Then understood they how that he bade [them] not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
When Jesus arrived at the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he inquired of his disciples, asking, "Whom do men say that I, the Son of man, am^?" 13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
And they replied, "Some state that you are John the Baptist; some, Elias; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets^." 14 And they said, Some [say that thou art] John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
Then he asked them, "But whom do you say that I am^?" 15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
Now Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God^?" 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Thereupon Jesus replied, saying, "You are blessed, Simon, son of Jonah, for the physical senses did not reveal it to you, but my parental Principle which is all-harmonious^. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed [it] unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
"So I declare to you also, that your statement is a sure foundation, and upon its truth I will build toward the 'structure of Truth and Love^,' and any entry of the belief of death cannot prevail against it^. 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
"Now I will give to you the Science of Scriptures and whatever you will forbid in the earthly senses, is forbidden by spiritual sense, and whatever you will permit in earthly senses, must first be permitted in spiritual sense^." 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Then he requested his disciples not to discuss with anyone that he was Jesus the Messiah^. 20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
From that time Jesus began to reveal to his disciples how he must go to Jerusalem and suffer in many ways at the hands of the leaders of scholastic theology and government clerks, and be killed, but be resurrected again to life on the third day. 21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
Then Peter took him aside to rebuke him, saying, "It should be far from you that this might happen." 22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
Turning to Peter, he said, "Get behind me, Error, you are an offense to me, for you do not have in mind the things of God, but of man." 23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone will come after me, let that one deny any 'selfhood apart from God^,' enduring 'the world's hatred of Truth and Love^,' and follow me. 24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
"For whoever persists in a material sense of life will lose it, and whoever will surrender a finite sense of life, according to my teachings, will find the Life divine. 25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
"Now what profit is there if one gains the whole world, but forfeits the spiritual senses? Or what can one give in exchange for a holy birthright? 26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
"For the Son of man will be perceived as the glory of his parental Principle with only holy thoughts, and everyone will be rewarded according to that one's works. 27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
"Verily I tell you, there are some established by omnipresent Being who will not taste death before they see the Son of man appearing in his righteous sovereignty." 28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
