THE MELCHIZEDEK BIBLE KING JAMES VERSION
Matthew 14 Matthew 14
At that time the fame of Jesus came to the attention of Herod the tetrarch^, son of Herod the Great. 1 At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus,
And he told his servants, "This must be John the Baptist; he has risen from the dead and that is why he can do such mighty works^. 2 And said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.
For Herod had arrested John, and bound him and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias^, wife of his brother Philip. 3 For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put [him] in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife.
For John had told him, "You cannot legally have your brother's wife unless she is his widow^." 4 For John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her.
Now when he intended to kill him, he became afraid because it was believed that John was a prophet^. 5 And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.
Yet on Herod's birthday, the daughter of Herodias danced to entertain them, pleasing Herod^. 6 But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.
Thereupon he promised under oath to meet any demand she might have^. 7 Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask.
But she was instructed by her mother beforehand to say, "Give me John the Baptist's head on a platter^." 8 And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist's head in a charger.
For the sake of his oath, and for those who attended his feast, he commanded it to be done, but the king was exceedingly sorry. 9 And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath's sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded [it] to be given [her].
So he struck at moral law by having John beheaded in prison. 10 And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison.
And John's head was brought on a platter to the damsel, and she in turn gave it to her mother. 11 And his head was brought in a charger, and given to the damsel: and she brought [it] to her mother.
Then John's disciples came to recover the body and bury it, and thereafter they went to Jesus and told him. 12 And his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.
After Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship to a solitary place, and when the people had heard where, they followed him on foot from the cities^. 13 When Jesus heard [of it], he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard [thereof], they followed him on foot out of the cities.
When Jesus arrived and found a great multitude, he had compassion for them and healed their sick^. 14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.
After it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, "This is a distant place and it is late; send the multitude away so that they may go into the villages to buy something to eat^." 15 And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.
But Jesus told them, "There is no need for them to leave; give them some food to eat^." 16 But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.
Then they advised him, "We have here only five loaves and two fish^." 17 And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.
He replied, "Bring them here to me^." 18 He said, Bring them hither to me.
Thereupon he commanded the multitude to recline on the grassy beds, and he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking to all-harmonious Love, which solves the problem of Being, he gave thanks that divine Mind is the only substance; then he gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude^." 19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to [his] disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
After they ate and were filled, they took up the testimony to the superabundance of his love^. 20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.
They that had partaken of Love's feast were about five thousand men, beside women and children^. 21 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.
Thereafter Jesus compelled his disciples to leave forthwith by ship, and to go without him to return to their finite concepts, while he sent the multitude away. 22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.
After he had sent the multitude away, he reached the heights of Mind, apart from carnal sense, to acknowledge divine reality, as he needed to be alone before he was at peace. 23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.
The medium which carried them above the waves was now in the midst of turbulent finite concepts, tossed by waves of fear, for mortal passion was in opposition to them. 24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.
During the last watch^ of the night, Jesus came walking to them, engrounded on Truth's mastery over the "waves of error^." 25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
But when the disciples saw him walking over the sea, they were terrified, saying, "It is an apparition!" And they cried out in fear. 26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
At once Jesus spoke to them, saying, "Be of good cheer; it is I; do not be afraid." 27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
Then Peter answered him and said, "Lord, if it is you, include me in your triumph over the waves of sin and enground me above the tempestuous sea of error." 28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
Jesus said, "Come." So when Peter came from the medium of the ship, he walked over the water to go to Jesus. 29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
But when he felt the boisterous winds of the carnal passions, he became afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, "Lord, save me!" 30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
Immediately Jesus caught him by ontological power, and declared to him, "O you of such little understanding, why did you doubt the grounds of Spirit?" 31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth [his] hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
Now when they were secured in the ship, the boisterous winds of carnal passions ceased. 32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.
Then they that were in the ship devotedly said, "Of a truth you are the very Son of God!" 33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
After that they reached the land of Gennesaret. 34 And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret.
Now the men of that place had knowledge of him, so they sent word to the entire area round about, which brought to him all that were diseased. 35 And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased;
Thereupon they besought him that they might only touch an aspect of his Truth, and as many as touched on the slightest element of his divine Truth were made perfectly whole. 36 And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.
