THE MELCHIZEDEK BIBLE KING JAMES VERSION
Matthew 13 Matthew 13
The same day Jesus went out so that he might meet the fears of the people^, 1 The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.
And multitudes gathered together to hear him; he reposed exalted, easily in command of the human waves of fear; and the whole multitude stood unwittingly on the verge of infinity. 2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.
Then he instructed them with many parables, saying, "Behold, a worker went out to sow. 3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
"As he sowed, some seeds fell by the wayside, but the fowls came and devoured them. 4 And when he sowed, some [seeds] fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
"Some fell on stony places, where there was not much earth; and they sprung up early, because of the shallow soil. 5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:
"When the sun shined on them, they became parched; and because they were lacking roots, they withered away. 6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
"And some seed fell among thorns which grew up and choked the good seed. 7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
"But some seed fell on rich soil, and produced an abundant crop, some an hundred times, or sixty times, or thirty times what was sown. 8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
"Whoever has hearing, let that one perceive^." 9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Then the disciples inquired of him, "Why do you teach them by parables^?" 10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
He answered them, saying, "Because it is given to you to know the impenetrable and sovereign I-am, but to them it is not given^. 11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
"For those who have, to them it will be given and they will have more abundance; but those who do not have, even that which they think they have will be taken away^. 12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
"Therefore I teach them in parables, because even though they are seeing, they discern not, and hearing, they perceive not, neither do they understand^. 13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
"And by them is fulfilled the prophesy of Esaias^, which said, 'You indeed hear^, but understand not, and you indeed see^, but discern not^. 14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
"For this people's mind has grown carnal, and with their hearing they but faintly perceive because they have shut their spiritual discernment, lest at any time they should discern, and perceive and understand, and be converted, then I would vanquish their carnal illusions^. 15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and [their] ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with [their] eyes, and hear with [their] ears, and should understand with [their] heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
"But blessed is your sight^, for you discern, and your hearing^, for you perceive^. 16 But blessed [are] your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
"For verily I tell you, that many prophets and righteous men longed to see^ those things which you are experiencing, but did not see them, and to hear^ of those things which you are perceiving, but did not^. 17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous [men] have desired to see [those things] which ye see, and have not seen [them]; and to hear [those things] which ye hear, and have not heard [them].
"Now listen to the explanation of the parable of the sower: 18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.
"When anyone hears the scientific Word, and understands it not, then present with it is its reversal, which catches away that which was sown in thought. This is the one which received the seed of truth in a material way. 19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth [it] not, then cometh the wicked [one], and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
"Then they who received the scientific Word superficially, those same ones hear the word and presently discern its promise with joy; 20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
"Yet they have no foundation within, but endure for a while, for when tribulation or persecution comes to test their faithfulness, by and by it offends their carnal convictions. 21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
"The ones also that received the scientific Word among the thorns are those who only hear it, but the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke it out, so they will not become fruitful. 22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
"But the one that discerns the scientific Word on good foundation is the one that perceives its truth and understands it; then that kind also gets good results, demonstrating scientific Truth abundantly." 23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth [it]; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
Another parable he put forth to them, saying, "The kingdom of harmony^ is compared to someone who sowed good seed in the field. 24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
"But when the watch was asleep, an enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went its way. 25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
"Now when the blade began to grow, and brought forth the promise of fruit, then appeared the tares also. 26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
"So those who served with the householder came and asked, 'Did you not sow good seed in your field? From whence then appear the tares?' 27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
"The householder replied to them, 'An enemy has done this.' Those who served inquired, 'Will you then ask us to go and separate them out?' 28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
"But the response was, 'Nay; lest while you attempt to indentify the tares, you might root up the wheat also? 29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
"'Let both mature together until they bear fruit; and in that time I will say to the laborers: Identify first the tares and bind and burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.'" 30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
Another parable he put forth, saying, "The kingdom of harmony^ is like a grain of mustard seed, like the slightest hint of infinity, which one took and sowed in the metaphysical field. 31 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:
"Which indeed is among the least of all seed, giving the faintest hint of infinite Mind, but when matured, it is the greatest among herbs, manifesting God's power and becoming a tree reflecting life, so that 'the uplifted desires of the human heart' can come to dwell in its fulfillment." 32 Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.
He gave yet another parable to them, "The kingdom of harmony^ is like the Truth which a woman^ took and hid in three modes of erroneous thought, till the whole of it was corrected." 33 Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
All these maxims Jesus taught to the multitude by parables, and he did not teach them without a parable. 34 All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:
So it might be fulfilled which was foreseen by Asaph^, the prophet, saying, "I will open my teachings in parables; I will utter truths which have been secret from the foundation of worldly beliefs." 35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.
Then Jesus sent the multitude away and returned to the house; now his disciples came to him and requested, "Explain the parable of the tares of the field." 36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.
So he explained, "He that sows the good seed is the Son of man; 37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
"The field is worldly belief; the good seed are the children of Truth, but the tares are those under the influence of the one evil, or the negation of Truth. 38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked [one];
"The enemy that sows them is the one evil; the harvest is the end of worldly convictions, and the reapers represent the sovereign thoughts of God. 39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
"As therefore the tares are gathered and purified in the fire of affliction; so will it be at the end of worldly convictions. 40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
"The Son of man will command divine thoughts, and they will separate out of his sovereignty all things that would oppose it, along with those who practice iniquity; 41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
"And will cast them into purification by affliction, and there will be great anguish. 42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
"Then will the righteous shine forth as the sun in the sovereignty of their parental Principle. Who has hearing, let him perceive. 43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
"Again, the kingdom of harmony^ is like a treasure hidden in a field, which when found, was concealed, and the finder joyfully exchanged all that one had for that field. 44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
"Again, the kingdom of harmony^ is like a merchant, seeking exceptionally fine pearls^; 45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
"Who, when having found one pearl^, greatly priced, exchanged all the person had for it. 46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
"Again, the kingdom of harmony^ is like a net that was cast into the sea, and gathered every type, both real and spurious; 47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:
"Which, when it was full, they drew it near to the shore of realization, and while reposing, separated the good and real to keep, but cast the spurious aside. 48 Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.
"So will it be at the end of worldly convictions: the thoughts of God will be found in command, and will sever the wickedly spurious from among the righteous, 49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,
"And will cast them into the affliction of purification; there will be great anguish." 50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Jesus inquired of them, "Have you understood all these things?" They replied, "Yes, Lord." 51 Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord.
Then he declared to them, "Therefore every student which is instructed about the kingdom of harmony is like a metaphysician, who brings forth from his spiritual abundance truths both new and old." 52 Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe [which is] instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man [that is] an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure [things] new and old.
After Jesus had finished these parables, he departed. 53 And it came to pass, [that] when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence.
When he entered into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished and asked, "From whence has this man such wisdom and such mighty works? 54 And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this [man] this wisdom, and [these] mighty works?
"Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother's name Mary, and his brother's names, James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? 55 Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
"And his sisters, are not all of them with us? From whence then does this man have all these teachings?" 56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this [man] all these things?
Thereupon they were hindered from believing in him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country and in his own house." 57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.
Therefore he did not perform many marvelous works there because of their obdurate resistance. 58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
