THE MELCHIZEDEK BIBLE KING JAMES VERSION
Matthew 4 Matthew 4
Then was Jesus led by Spirit to the "vestibule in which a material sense of things disappears, and spiritual sense unfolds the great facts of existence^," to be proven by the sensuous unreal. 1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
He denied^ the claims of the carnal mind until he saw the negative interpretation^ of reality reversed by the Truth of being; thereafter he became hungry. 2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
And when Mind's negation came to prove him, the inner voice inquired, "If you are the very Son of God, can you coax^ these stones into bread?" 3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
But he answered and declared, "It is written, man shall not live by bread alone for 'Truth is the actual life of man^.'" 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Then the negation set him at the pinnacle of ecclesiasticism, above the religions of the congregations of the world. 5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
And the inner voice suggested to him, "If you are the very Son of God, cast yourself down, for it is written, 'God's thoughts have charge concerning you, and it is that power that supports you, lest at any time your understanding comes against a material obstruction." 6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in [their] hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Jesus dismissed the negation of Spirit by realizing "whatever involves material means for the promotion of spiritual ends^" must be eschewed. 7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
Again, at the point of his highest spiritual attainment, the negative interpretation of positive good brought to him a view of all the kingdoms of the world with their apparent glory; 8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
Thereupon the inner voice suggested, "All this will be given you if you come down and honor the human interpretation of nature." 9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
Then Jesus denounced the belief that God's purpose could be reversed, and declared, "Get hence, O error of thought, for it is written, 'You must worship God Almighty, and only God Almighty can you serve.'" 10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Then the iniquitous suggestions of carnal mentality departed from him, and behold, there were God's thoughts ministering unto him. 11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
Now Jesus departed for Galilee when he learned that John was imprisoned. 12 Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;
After leaving Nazareth, he came to Capernaum and dwelt there upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim. 13 And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:
Now the words of Esaias^ the prophet were to be fulfilled, who said, 14 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
"In the land of Zabulon and the land of Nephthalim, by the sea coast, beyond Jordan, in the Gentiles' district, 15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, [by] the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;
The people which sat in the darkness of human beliefs were greatly enlightened, and to them which reposed in that state of mind with its shadow of death, enlightenment came up upon them." 16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.
From that time, Jesus began to preach and declare, "Think again, for sovereign harmony is within your reflected power." 17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Now as Jesus walked by the sea shore of tempestuous Galilee, he saw the two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew about to cast a snare into the surging sea of human concepts, for they were at work to discover Mind's ideas. 18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
Then he said, "Come, follow me, and the almighty I-am will make you discoverers of the scientific man." 19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
So they forthwith left their snares and followed the herald of Truth^. 20 And they straightway left [their] nets, and followed him.
And going on from there, he saw two more brothers, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, advancing their profession in a ship with Zebedee their father, so he called them. 21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James [the son] of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.
Thereupon they forthwith left their worldly trade, and the influence of paternal thinking, to follow the herald of Truth^. 22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.
And Jesus went about all Galilee, lecturing in their synagogues, teaching the Science of Mind, and healing all manner of sickness and disease among the people. 23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
Thereupon his fame spread throughout Syria, and they brought to him all those that were sick with various diseases and torments, and those under mesmeric influences, and those suffering from dementia, and those suffering from palsy; and he healed them. 24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.
Multitudes followed him from Galilee, and from the region of ten cities from beyond Jordan, and from Jerusalem and Judea. 25 And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and [from] Decapolis, and [from] Jerusalem, and [from] Judaea, and [from] beyond Jordan.
