GENESIS 28 GENESIS 28

1 Isaac called Jacob, and after greeting him, he commanded, "You must not marry any woman from the daughters of the Canaanities. This part of KING JAMES VERSION will be added later on.

2 "Rise up to the better thinking of Bethuel, your mother's father, and go to the wider fields of Padan-Aram; from there find your wife among the daughters of Laban, your mother's brother. .....

3 "May almighty God bless you, making you fruitful, and increase your offspring so that you become multitudes of people; .....

4 "And give you the blessing promised to Abraham for you, and to your offspring with you, that you may inherit that state of mind wherein you are a stranger, which God unfolded to Abraham." .....

5 Then Isaac sent Jacob away to Laban in Padan-aram, to the son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob's and Esau's mother. .....

6 When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padan-aram, to marry someone from there, and that as he blessed him he commanded, "You must not marry a woman from the daughters of the Canaanities"; .....

7 And that in obedience to his father and mother, Jacob went to Laban in Padan-aram; .....

8 Esau realized that the daughters of the Canaanites did not please his father, Isaac. .....

9 Then Esau went to Ishmael, and married Mahalath, the daughter of Ismael, Abraham's son and sister of Nebajoth, including her with the wives which he already had. .....

10 Now Jacob left Beer-sheba, and went toward Haran. .....

11 As he traveled, he came upon an idea embraced in Mind, so he lingered there during the darkness because the emblem of God's government had dropped below his mental horizon; and he took the truths of that point to support his reason, and reposed there while the opposing senses were quiet. .....

12 The idea he beheld was that his history was but a dream, and he beheld a scale set up on the earth, and the top of it reached the heights of infinite Mind, and behold, the thoughts of God were ascending and descending on it^. .....

13 Moreover, the omnipresent Science of being stood above it, revealing, "The all-inclusive I-am is the Lord God of your father Abraham, and the God of Isaac; the state of revelation in which you are reposed is given to you and to your offspring. .....

14 "Now your offspring will become countless on the earth, and they will reach to the west, to the east, to the north, and to the south; and in you and in your offspring will all the families of the earth be blessed. .....

15 "And, behold, the almighty I-am coincides with your being, your 'I am', and will preserve you in everywhere you venture to be, always bringing you back to the clear and correct state of thought, for you will not be left alone until you have been perfected, according to the promises." .....

16 For Jacob was awakened out of the dream of life in material history, and he realized: surely God coincides with his manifestation, his offspring, and I knew it not. .....

17 And he was reverent, asserting: How awesome is this understanding! This is none other but the consciousness of God, and this is the gateway to the Science of being. .....

18 Then Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the idea of Truth that he had as his support, and set it up as a pillar for his reason, embracing it with inspiration at its highest point. .....

19 He called the nature of that place Beth-el, or the abode of God, but the name of that city was called Luz, or separation, at the first. .....

20 And Jacob affirmed a pledge, asserting, "If God coincides with me, and preserves me in the clear and correct way that must I go, and will feed and clothe me spiritually, .....

21 "So that I come again to my parental Principle in peace, then the Lord is my God. .....

22 "This Truth, which I have set as the pillar of my reason, is God's consciousness, and of all that I will receive, a tenth of it will be certainly retained for the reign of Truth." .....
