GENESIS

THE MELCHIZEDEK BIBLE KING JAMES VERSION
GENESIS 20 GENESIS 20
Abraham journeyed from there toward Negev in the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and for a time he journeyed in Gerar, And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar.
When Abraham said of Sarah his wife, "She is my sister," then Abimelech, King of Gerar, summoned Sarah to have her. And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah. ....
However, God protected Sarah by bringing the truth to Abimelech when his senses were quieted in the dark of night, whereby it was revealed to him; "Behold, you are but a mortal man, because of the woman which you have taken is another man's wife"; But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man's wife. ..
Yet Abimelech had not come near her, so he plead, "Will the Lord slay also a righteous nation? But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, LORD, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation? ..
"Did not Abraham say to me, 'She is my sister?' And even she said, 'He is my brother'; in the integrity of my heart and with innocency of my authority have I done this." Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this. ...
When his longings were quieted, it was revealed to him, "Yea, it is known that you did this by the integrity of your heart, for this also withheld you from sinning against the divine Principle; because of this you were not allowed to touch her. And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her. ...
"Now therefore restore to the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you, so that you may survive; but if you do not restore her, know that you, your people, and all that is yours surely will not survive." Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid. ...
Therefore, in the morning, Abimelech quickly arose and summoned all his servants, telling them all these things, but the men became very frightened. Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done. ...
Thereafter Abimelech summoned Abraham to ask him, "What have you done to us? And how have I offended you that you might have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? The deeds you have done to me should not have been done." Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done. ...
Futhermore Abimelech said to Abraham, "How were you reasoning that you did this thing?" And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing? ...
And Abraham said, "Because I thought, surely the reverence of God is not in this place, and they will slay me because of my wife. And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake. ...
"Yet indeed she is my sister since she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother, and now she has become my wife. And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife. ..
"So when I felt the need to separate from the safety of my father's land, I requested of her, 'This is your kindness which you might show me: wherever we may come to dwell, say of me that I am your brother.'" And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt shew unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother. ...
Then Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants, and gave them to Abraham, and restored Sarah, his wife, to him. And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife. ...
And Abimelech said, "Behold, my land is before you; you may dwell in it wherever it pleases you." And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee. ..
Yet to Sarah he said, "Behold, I have given your brother and you a thousand pieces of silver; this is to recompense the affront against you, and all those who are with you"; thus she was both reproved and vindicated. And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that are with thee, and with all other: thus she was reproved. ..
So Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants so they could have children. So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children. ....
For Principle had completely stopped all reproduction in the land of Abimelech, because of Sarah, Abraham's wife. For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham's wife. ..
