| 1 At the final stages of Sodom, two men came
there to bring Lot into concord with thoughts
representative of the Lord, when Lot was stationed at the
portal of carnal excesses. When Lot saw them, he rose to
meet them, giving them reverence and obeisance, while
facing the underlying facts. |
And there came two angels to
Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot
seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself
with his face toward the ground; |
| 2 He declared, "Behold now, my masters,
please dwell with your servant, and remain during all his
darkness, and then refresh yourselves, for early you will
rise up to continue in your way." But they replied,
"Nay, we will abide outside of your hopeless
dwelling during its gloom." |
And he said, Behold now, my
lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house,
and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall
rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay;
but we will abide in the street all night.. |
| 3 Now he persisted upon them greatly, so they
turned in with him, penetrating his carnal thinking; and
he gave them a feast of Soul, and did reason with the
sincerity of Truth, and they did partake thereof. |
And he pressed upon them
greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into
his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake
unleavened bread, and they did eat. |
| 4 Yet before they were reposed, the men of the
city, even the men of Sodom, compassed their pure state
of mind, both old and young, all the people from every
quarter or type of sensual thinking. |
But before they lay down,
the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the
house round, both old and young, all the people from
every quarter: |
| 5 They called to Lot, demanding of him,
"Where are the men which came in to you this night?
Bring them out for us so that we may carnally know
them." |
And they called unto Lot,
and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to
thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know
them. |
| 6 Then Lot went out to meet them, but his mind
was shut against them. |
And Lot went out at the door
unto them, and shut the door after him, |
| 7 And he said, "Please, brethren, do not be
so wicked. |
And said, I pray you,
brethren, do not so wickedly. |
| 8 "Look now, I have two virgin daughters;
please let me bring them out to you, and do to them as is
good in your sight. Only to these men do nothing, for
they came under the protection of my roof." |
Behold now, I have two
daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you,
bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in
your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore
came they under the shadow of my roof. |
| 9 At which they said, "Stand back,"
and they came again, saying, "This foreigner came in
to sojourn, and he now wants to be our judge; now will we
deal worse with him than with them." And they
brought pressure on Lot, nearly breaking his resistence. |
And they said, Stand back.
And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn,
and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with
thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man,
even Lot, and came near to break the door. |
| 10 But the Lord's masters put forth their power
and brought Lot into the presence of divine Mind with
them, and shut the carnal mind out. |
But the men put forth their
hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to
the door. |
| 11 Now they smote the carnal beliefs that were
at the threshold of thought with blindness, both small
and great beliefs, so that they wearied themselves to
find the entrance into conscious awareness with them. |
And they smote the men that
were at the door of the house with blindness, both small
and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the
door. |
| 12 Then the masters of the Lord said to Lot,
"Have you here any besides? Son-in-law, and your
sons, and your daughters, and whatever you have embraced
in divine consciousness, bring them out of this kind of
thinking. |
And the men said unto Lot,
Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and
thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city,
bring them out of this place: |
| 13 "For we will behold the destruction of
the carnal mind because the cry of those beliefs is ripe
for elimination before the appearance of divine Mind; and
divine Mind has sent us to practice healing here." |
For we will destroy this
place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the
face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy
it. |
| 14 Then Lot went out, and spake with his
sons-in-law, which married his daughters, saying,
"Go up and get out of this carnality, for the divine
Mind is the destruction of this state of thought."
But he seemed as one that mocked to his sons-in-law. |
And Lot went out, and spake
unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and
said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will
destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto
his sons in law. |
| 15 As enlightenment dawned, then God's thoughts
quickened Lot, revealing, "Arise, take your wife,
and your two daughters which are here, lest they be
consumed in the iniquity of the carnal mind." |
And when the morning arose,
then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy
wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be
consumed in the iniquity of the city. |
| 16 But while he lingered, the masters of the
Lord laid hold to supercede his carnal belief, and the
belief of his wife, and the beliefs of his two daughters,
as the Lord was merciful to him. And they brought him
forth, thrusting him outside of the beliefs of the flesh.
|
And while he lingered, the
men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his
wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD
being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and
set him without the city. |
| 17 It came to pass, when they had brought them
out, that the master said, "Escape for your life;
look not back at mortal claims, neither remain in any of
its beliefs; escape to the higher states of
consciousness, lest you will be consumed." |
And it came to pass, when
they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape
for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in
all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be
consumed. |
| 18 But Lot declared, "Oh, not so, my
master." |
And Lot said unto them, Oh,
not so, my LORD: |
| 19 "Now behold, your servant has found
grace in your sight, and you have magnified your mercy
which you have shown me by saving my life, but I cannot
escape completely to the higher states of thought^, lest
some evil overtake me, and I die. |
Behold now, thy servant hath
found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy
mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life;
and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take
me, and I die: |
| 20 "Now, here is a place to dwell that is
nearer to flee to, and it is only slightly^ carnal in
belief. Oh, let me escape thither, (how can I achieve the
spiritual ultimate in one step^?) and my senses will
survive." |
Behold now, this city is
near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me
escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul
shall live. |
| 21 So the master replied, "See the
Principle of Being has accepted you concerning this
compromise also, that this mentality will not yet be
completely overthrown for your sake and for which you
have spoken. |
And he said unto him, See, I
have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I
will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast
spoken. |
| 22 "But you must hasten and you must escape
to the other side, for nothing can be done until you
reverse the testimony of the carnal senses; therefore the
nature of the city was called Zoar^." |
Haste thee, escape thither;
for I cannot do anything till thou be come thither.
Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar. |
| 23 Enlightenment had risen in the whole sphere
of consciousness when Lot entered into Zoar. |
The sun was risen upon the
earth when Lot entered into Zoar. |
| 24 Then Principle brought upon Sodom and upon
Gomorrah burning Truth and purification from the harmony
of Mind. |
Then the LORD rained upon
Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD
out of heaven; |
| 25 And those beliefs were overthrown, with all
the inhabitants of those beliefs, and that which grew out
of material thinking. |
And he overthrew those
cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the
cities, and that which grew upon the ground. |
| 26 But his wife looked longingly back at
carnality from a state of thought below and behind his,
and she became a pillar of sensuous beliefs. |
But his wife looked back
from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. |
| 27 Abraham arose early in the enlightenment of
the place he held before the presence of divine Life; |
And Abraham gat up early in
the morning to the place where he stood before the LORD: |
| 28 And he looked toward sensuous Sodom and
ruinous Gomorrah, and toward all that state of mentality,
and beheld the pollution^ of that kind of thinking which
became nothingness as the impurities passed away through
the chemicalization of Truth. |
And he looked toward Sodom
and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and
beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the
smoke of a furnace. |
| 29 So when divine Mind eliminated the carnal
beliefs of the human mind, God was gracious to Abraham,
and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow when he
overthrew the carnal beliefs in which Lot had dwelt. |
And it came to pass, when
God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God
remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the
overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot
dwelt. |
| 30 And Lot rose higher out of the slight mortal
beliefs of Zoar, and dwelt in the higher revelations of
Mind with his two daughters, for he feared to dwell in
Zoar, and he was sheltered where he dwelt with his two
daughters. |
And Lot went up out of Zoar,
and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with
him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a
cave, he and his two daughters. |
| 31 Then the firstborn said to the younger,
"Our father is old, and there is not a man anywhere
to bring us propagation after the manner of all the
earth; |
And the firstborn said unto
the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in
the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the
earth: |
| 32 "Come, let us mesmerize our father with
wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve
offspring of our father." |
Come, let us make our father
drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may
preserve seed of our father. |
| 33 So they mesmerized their father with wine
that night, and the firstborn went in, and lay with her
father, and he knew not when she lay down, nor when she
left. |
And they made their father
drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay
with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down,
nor when she arose. |
| 34 Then it came to pass on the next day, that
the firstborn said to the younger, "Behold, I lay
last night with my father; let us also mesmerize him with
wine this night, and you go in and lie with him, that we
may preserve offspring of our father." |
And it came to pass on the
morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold,
I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink
wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him,
that we may preserve seed of our father. |
| 35 And they also mesmerized their father with
wine that night, and the younger arose, and lay with him,
but he knew not when she lay down, nor when she left. |
And they made their father
drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and
lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor
when she arose. |
| 36 Thus both the daughters of Lot were to have a
child by their father. |
Thus were both the daughters
of Lot with child by their father. |
| 37 And the firstborn produced a son, and called
his name Moab^. The same is the father of the Moabites
until this day. |
And the first born bare a
son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of
the Moabites unto this day. |
| 38 And the younger also produced a son, and
called his name Benammi^; the same is the father of the
children of Ammon until this day. |
And the younger, she also
bare a son, and called his name Benammi: the same is the
father of the children of Ammon unto this day. |
