| GENESIS 13 | GENESIS 13 |
| 1 Abram went up out of the state of darkness, with his wife and Lot, and all that he had, into higher human aims. | And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south. |
| 2 Now Abram had become very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold. | And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold. |
| 3 And he went on his journeys from there, from the south, even toward that place consecrated to God, Beth-el, to the place where his thinking had been in the beginning, between consecration to God, Beth-el, and ruinous mesmerism, Hai, | And he went on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai; |
| 4 Up to the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first; and there Abram sought the nature of Jehovah. | Unto the place of the altar, which he had make there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the LORD. |
| 5 Also Lot, who followed Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents. | And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents. |
| 6 But the state of conflict was such as not to bear them both, that they might have dwelt together, as their belief of substance was strong, so they could not abide together. | And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together. |
| 7 And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle as the state of thought was organized sensuous belief while the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelt there. | And there was strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land. .. |
| 8 Now Abram advised Lot, "Please let there be no strife between us, and between our herdmen, for we are brethren. | And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren. |
| 9 "Is not the whole land before you? Please part from me; if you will take the left side, then I will go to the right; or if you depart to the right side, then I will go to the left." | Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left. |
| 10 Lot attempted discernment, but failed, while beholding that all the descending human beliefs in the plain of Jordan^ were full of humanity's sensuousness everywhere. Before the self-destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, even so, the material body was included as the seat of Jehovistic belief, as in the state of Egypt where one might find affliction. | And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar. |
| 11 Then Lot chose the entire descending plain of Jordan, and journeyed toward the mesmerism of the east, whereupon they parted from each other. | Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other. |
| 12 So Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, but Lot abode in the cities of the plain, pitching his dwelling to face Sodom. | Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom. |
| 13 Now the men of Sodom were wicked and exceedingly sinful, even according to any Jehovistic standard. | But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly. |
| 14 After Abram parted from Lot, divine fulfillment declared, "Now lift up your discernment, and look from your standpoint, toward the Word^ of the Almighty, and toward the sweet uses of adversity^, toward wisdom^, peace^ and love^, | And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: |
| 15 "For the entire state of mind which you discern will be given to you and to your offspring forever. | For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. |
| 16 "And your offspring will be as numerous as the dust of the earth; so if anyone can number the dust of the earth, then your offspring may be numbered accordingly. | And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered. |
| 17 "Arise, move throughout the state of consciousness by which you dwell, behold the resurrection of it^, and the exalted power of it^, for it is given to you." | Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee. |
| 18 Then Abram improved his concepts, and came to abide in the rising strength of Mamre^, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto Jehovah. | Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD. |
