1 "If a anyone steals an ox or a sheep, and kill or sell it, it must be restored fivefold for oxen and fourfold^ for sheep.

2 "If a thief be found breaking in and killed in the act, no penalty will be required.

3 "But if it happens that the thief survives, there will be a penalty, for full restitution should be made, but if the same has nothing, then that one will be sold for the theft.

4 "If the theft be positively found in the thief's possession, whether it be an ox, ass, or sheep, then it must be restored twice.
.....
5 "If anyone allows the field or vineyard of another to be eaten by the same's livestock, then restitution must be made from the best of their own vineyard,

6 "If fire breaks out and spreads through the bushes so that the property of another - the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field - is consumed by it, then the one responsible for kindling the fire must surely make restitution.

7 "If anyone will entrust a neighbor with money or goods for safekeeeping, and it is stolen, then if the thief is caught, let the same pay a penalty of double the value.

8 "But if no thief is found, then the master of the house will be brought to the judges to see whether the master had taken any of the neighbor's goods.

9 "For all manner of disputed claims, whether it be for an ox, a donkey, sheep, clothing, or for any manner of lost thing which another challenges to own, the cause of both parties will come before the judges, and whom the judges find guilty, the same must pay double to the neighbor.

10 "If anyone delivers to their neighbor a donkey, or an ox, or a sheep or any animal for safekeeping, and it dies, or is hurt or driven away, no one seeing it;

11 "Then an oath before the Lord will be made between them, that the neighbor's goods had not been spoiled by the safekeeper. Now the owner of it must accept this and it will not be restored.

12 "But if it is stolen when held in safekeeping, restitution to the owner must be made.
.....
13 "If it was torn to pieces, then let the remains be brought for evidence, and it will not be made good because it was torn.
.....
14 "And if anyone borrow something from a neighbor, and it is injured or dies, the owner not being with it, restitution must be made.
.....
15 "But if the owner is with it, restitution need not be made. If it was hired, the potential of loss is part of the contract.

16 "And if a man seduces a women who is not engaged and stay with her, he must surely pay the price^ of a bride for her and she will be his wife.

17 "If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he must pay money according to the price^ of a bride.

18 "You must not allow the practice of witchcraft^, nor permit it to continue.

19 "Whoever has sexual relations with a beast must surely be put to death.

20 "Whoever sacrifices to any god, except the Lord only, the same will be utterly destroyed.

21 "You must neither vex nor oppress an alien^, for you were aliens in the state of Egyptian darkness.

22 "You must not afflict any widow nor orphan.

23 "If you afflict them in any way and they cry at all to me, I will surely heal their distress;

24 "Then my negation against you will become fierce, as I negate you by my justice, and your wives will become widows, and your children fatherless.

25 "If you lend money to any of my people among you that is in need, you must not lend as an usurer, neither can you charge excessive interest^.

26 "If you take your neighbor's raiment to pledge, you must return it by the time the sun sets^,

27 "For it is the only covering the same has; since it is a covering for the skin, in what can that one sleep? And it will come to pass, when the same cries for me, that I will heal, for I am compassionate.

28 "You must not deride the judges of your people, nor curse the ruler of your people^.

29 "You will not delay to offer the first of your ripe fruits, and of your liquors; the firstborn of your sons you must give to me.

30 "You must do likewise with your oxen and your sheep; seven days it will be with its dam^, but on the eighth day you must give it me.

31 "And you must be a holy people unto me; neither will you eat any animal that is torn by beasts in the field; it must be given to the dogs."
